We at YND Planners can help with some of the uncertainty that comes along with post Covid-19 travels. Now that the U.S. requires visitors and returning residents to provide proof of negative COVID-19 test results in order to enter the country, international travel has become much more complicated and uncertain. Leaving the country will require travelers to locate approved testing sites at their destination, where they will be able to get tested within 72 hours of their return flight. In addition, it also means travelers will need to be prepared for an extended stay, more testing and perhaps medical treatment, should they test positive while abroad. Be sure to purchase travel insurance to aid with unforeseen travel expenses.
Shoes that are difficult to Remove - It's best to wear flip-flops or shoes that slip on and off. You’ll have to take your shoes off and put them in the screening bin before walking through the metal detector. It could be the difference between missing or catching your flight!
Belts - Passengers must remove belts before walking through metal detectors, so choose a belt-free outfit, or at least be prepared to remove your belt if you must wear one.
Jewelry - Most jewelry and body piercing will set off the alarm. Try to avoid at all cost, you don't need the extra attention.
Coats and Jackets - Passengers must remove coats and jackets before proceeding through the metal detectors. So remember to take off outerwear and put it in a screening bin to prevent holding up the line.
The most efficient and effective way to stay current with how Covid-19 is impacting your current travel arrangements is to stay connected with the airline, cruise, hotel, excursion, or any other supplier through which you have booked travel.
Some recent highlights:
Disney Cruise Line - As of September 3rd, 2021 Disney will require all passengers over twelve years old to be vaccinated.
Hawaii - Safe Travel Hawaii indicates that fully vaccinated travelers from the mainland, Alaska and U.S. territories will be exempt from testing and quarantine requirements.
Hotels - Several hotels such as, Couples Resorts, Riu hotels, Marriott International Resorts, will provide complimentary Covid-19 testing to guests in the Caribbean and Mexico.
Most cruise lines originating and ending in the US does not require passengers to hold a passport. However, it is always good to have a valid passport in the event you miss the ship and have to fly to the next port of call or home. Passports are also not needed to fly to Hawaii, Puerto Rico and the US Virgin Islands.
Know Before You Go: Be sure to know the locations to get your Covid-19 test for your return flight before getting to your destination. There are several hotels that will provide testing on site, such as AM Resorts, but many don't. These are some of the valuable information that I will provide as your travel advisor.
Be Flexible: Sometimes even the best-laid plans don’t work out, sometimes it's a hurricane, a snow storm, or it may be a pandemic! Stay flexible, even though that girls trip or moms getaway won't be to Mexico or the Caribbean, you can still make the most of your vacay! A road trip or a few days in the city maybe just what's needed to see close-to-home sights you never knew existed. Just be sure that when the unforeseen happens, don't be caught without travel insurance, travel insurance will help protect you from loosing your investment.
Recipe For Success: Tested time and time again, soft side carryon can be pushed and squeezed into smaller overhead bins much more easier than their rivals, hard side cases. As more travelers find ways to get around paying for checked baggage, consider sticking to soft side for carryon. On the other hand you may find it more valuable to invest in a hard side case for checked luggage.
I am better able to assist my clients as well as enhance my travel experience when I keep up to date with the travel industry. The industry is known to constantly change to meet the needs of the traveler, but more evident now due to Covi-19. The industry focus is on health, safety and sustainability. I attended the annual Cruise Line International Association (CLIA) cruise 360 conference held in Hollywood, Florida where I got an up close and personal overview about the health and safety measures that have been implemented by all cruise lines to keep passengers safe while on a cruise. We are still in a pandemic and lots of work continue to go into making the necessary changes as each cruise line work with medical and health professionals to provide the best processes and procedures.
Did you know there are over fifty cruise lines? Most people know the popular names such as - Carnival, Disney, Norwegian and Royal Caribbean - but there are also many others - Atlas, MSC, Ponant, and Silversea, etc. Cruising is mainly broken down into two categories: ocean cruises and rivers cruises. Ocean cruise lines sail exclusively on the ocean and make port of call stops in different countries, usually for several hours or on occasions, overnight. On the other hand, river cruises usually visited several cities, with opportunities to stay overnight and on occasion a couple days. There is a best fit for each traveler and an ideal cruise line for your next destination. I will help you make the best decision when choosing the cruise for that memorable experience.
